Virtual CISO (vCISO)
A virtual CISO is an outsourced or contracted senior cybersecurity professional.
Virtual CISOs offer time and insight on demand, often remotely, to organizations in need of cybersecurity policy, application, and best practices expertise.
The vCISO role has steadily increased in popularity in recent years, largely due to the increasing specificity of cybersecurity technologies and techniques and a parallel shortage of qualified cybersecurity professionals.
The ability to leverage the skill of seasoned experts without the permanence and expense of an in-house, full-time position enables startups, scale-ups, and SMBs to operate securely without having to limit technology velocity.
