False Acceptance Rate, or FAR, is a measure of how often a biometric authentication system incorrectly authenticates an unauthorized user. Authentication systems should strive to have the lowest possible FAR for accuracy and security purposes, and virtually any nonzero FAR is considered unacceptable for security-critical systems.
