Endpoint

An Endpoint is any network-connected, non-infrastructure computing device in an enterprise environment.

Common endpoints include workstations, laptops, tablets, phones, thin clients, printers, and other non-infrastructure nodes. Though cloud and server systems often receive the bulk of exposure in the press as objects of security concern, in practice most cloud and server systems must be accessed by a user working at an endpoint. Endpoint security is thus often the first line of defense in enterprise cybersecurity, particularly in relation to insider threats.
